Position Summary:

The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a fleet of light and heavy-duty vehicles. This position ensures that all vehicles are safe, dependable, and operating efficiently according to scheduled maintenance and repair needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues; disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicle systems as needed.
  • Conduct multi-point vehicle inspections per maintenance schedules.
  • Replace fluids (e.g., oil, transmission, coolant) and filters (e.g., fuel, oil, air, hydraulic) on schedule.
  • Conduct minor repairs such as replacing seals, gaskets, light bulbs, wiper blades, lenses, and headlights.
  • Inspect, test, and replace worn or damaged tires.
  • Provide roadside assistance and respond to service calls when needed.
  • Pick up and deliver vehicles and/or parts.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records (written and electronic).
  • Maintain cleanliness of tools, work areas, and fleet vehicles.
  • Complete daily checklists, including pre-trip inspections.
  • Perform all duties in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Follow the direction of Fleet Supervisor, Manager, or Lead Technician.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures for light and heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Understanding of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
  • Ability to safely diagnose, repair, and test vehicles and equipment.
  • Capable of following oral and written instructions.
  • Familiarity with vehicle telematics systems (e.g., Samsara).
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs repeatedly.
  • Must pass drug screening, criminal background check, employment verification, social security verification, and MVR check.
