The Corporate Controller will oversee all accounting operations and financial reporting functions for the organization, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with GAAP and internal controls. This key leadership role will drive process improvements, manage the accounting team, and play a critical role in supporting the financial health and strategic goals of a manufacturing business. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in manufacturing accounting, financial controls, and ERP system optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the accounting department, including general ledger, cost accounting, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, and payroll.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare and present consolidated financial statements and reports to executive leadership and stakeholders.
- Oversee standard costing, inventory valuation, and cost analysis to support pricing and margin decisions.
- Maintain and improve a strong system of internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, corporate policies, and external audit requirements.
- Coordinate and manage external audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting.
- Partner with operational leaders and finance team to analyze variances, monitor KPIs, and provide financial insights.
- Lead the implementation or optimization of ERP/accounting systems and reporting tools.
- Develop and mentor the accounting team to build a high-performance finance function.
- Support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership/controller role in manufacturing.
- In-depth understanding of GAAP, cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing operations.
- Experience with multi-site and/or global accounting operations is a plus.
- Strong ERP experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Preferred Experience:
- CPA or CMA certification.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing or Six Sigma environments.
- M&A integration or corporate restructuring experience.
- Experience managing bank and treasury functions.
